I started my teaching career in St. Louis, MO.  My first teaching job was a summer school position where I develop a class based on the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  After teaching summer school, I moved to St. Simon's Island, GA and taught 2nd grade there for 2 years.  I then moved to Atlanta, GA and taught 2nd grade for 2 years in DeKalb County.  I then moved again!  This time to Chattanooga, TN.  I taught for a half of year in Hamilton County at Orchard Knob Elementary School.  After that, I went to work for Hixson United Methodist, where I taught a 4 year old preschool class for a year and a half.  In 2007, I came to Graysville Elementary and taught 3rd grade for 1 year.  In the 2008 school year, I made the move to 5th grade as the Reading, Language Arts, and Spelling teacher.

Hello, my name is Kim Sammons.  I was born in Chicago, IL and in my 1st few years of life, I lived in many different places.  From the time I was 2 years old till the 4th grade, I lived in Phoenix, AZ.  My dad was transferred to a suburb of Chicago when I was in the 4th grade.  I lived in Orland Park, IL from the time I was 9 until I graduated high school in 1996.  My dad was once again transferred and we moved to St. Louis, Missouri. I attended a community college there two and a half years before I went to Lindenwood University where I obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  After I graduated from college, I moved to St. Simon's Island,  Georgia where I taught 2nd grade for two years.  I met my husband, Tex and moved to Atlanta.  We married in June of 2005 on the beach in Florida.  I have two dogs name Booker and Sky.  We were blessed with a beautiful daughter this year in June.  Her name is Ava.  In my spare time, I love spending time with my friends and famly.  I also love swimming, boating, and spending time outdoors.  I am passionate about teaching and I hope now after reading my bio, you feel like you know a little more about Mrs. Sammons!
